English as a Second Language (ESL) students are everywhere in North America. The number of international students learning English is on the rise with no end in sight!  But what about the number of North Americans learning a foreign language? 

In 2002, we decided this was an important question to ask and set out to try to find an answer.  With years of experience in teaching ESL as well as managing and marketing ESL schools we had a pretty good sense of the benefits of learning a foreign language (and these benefits go way beyond straight language skills!).  But it became apparent to us that while international students were enthusiastically embracing the benefits of immersion programs, most North American teens were trapped in the classroom trying to master a foreign language on less than 100 hours of language instruction per year!

What began as a simple question became the blueprint for a company and in 2003 The Learning Traveller was born.  Since then we've been doing our part to get as many North American teens as possible into language immersion programs and the results have been awesome!  In the words of one of our recent program participants:

"I LOVED IT! I've never had such an amazing experience in my life. I know it sounds cheesy, but this changed me as a person. I feel like I met incredible people that I will never forget, saw/lived in/fell in love with Paris and (surprise surprise!) my French got better!..."
