Location

Tarragona is a very pleasant coastal resort approximately 100 km South of Barcelona.  It is a provincial capital and has a population of about 115,000.  It is located on the beautiful Costa Dorada offering inviting sandy beaches and one of Europe's largest theme parks - Port Aventura - to visitors.

Our Tarragona summer program is run by one of Spain’s most reputable schools for Spanish language and cultural immersion.  The school occupies one floor of a typical Spanish town house on a broad tree-lined avenue in the centre of the city.  There are 7 well-equipped classrooms as well as a student's lounge and study area. 

Course

The Tarragona summer course for teens is designed to ensure that students enjoy their Spanish classes as much as they enjoy the rest of the program.  Classroom activities are varied and involve tasks or games that make the learning process interesting and fun!  The aim of the course is to develop the students' language skills in all areas, but the emphasis is on developing speaking and comprehension skills.  To ensure that students get the most out of their visits to places in and around Tarragona , some class time is devoted to project work related to the social program. Classes will take place in either the morning or the afternoon. 

The course includes a very full program of excursions and other activities with all costs covered by the course fee.  Each week there is a full-day excursion to places of interest such as Barcelona or Port Aventura.  There are also many half-day excursions to Roman ruins, waterparks, local beaches and famous monuments.  In addition to this, there are daily sports and leisure activities and evening activities to keep you entertained and provide many opportunities to socialize with your new friends from around the world.  The activities program will take place in either the morning or the afternoon depending on your class schedule. Teachers

All teachers are experienced, extensively trained in teaching Spanish as a second or foreign language and many have master's degrees or equivalent teaching qualifications.  They are known to be firm yet fun and work hard to ensure that you will get the most out of your class time in a full-immersion environment.

Accommodation

The student residence is located in the city centre, less than 15 minutes walk from the school.  The residence, which serves university students during the school year, was opened in 1988 and is very well-maintained.  Accommodation is spacious double rooms, with sheets and towels.  The bedrooms are equipped with wardrobes, writing desks and chairs, desk lamps, bookcases and mirrors.

Accommodation includes all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner).  Facilities available to students include a TV lounge, a computer room, study rooms and a small gymnasium.  Coin operated laundry facilities are also available.  The residence is monitored by a 24-hour reception service.

This program is officially open to 13 to 17 year olds, however, due to the level of supervision and the evening curfew, we feel it is best suited to students between the ages of 15 and 17.
